Custom Linen Greeting Cards for a Ranch-Style Home
And finding my niche: enhancing people's experience of what they already love
What a gift to celebrate the official beginning of summer with the production of these greeting cards.
Increasingly, I am finding my niche helping clients engage with the magic of what is slow, quiet, and enduring in their world, for example, the pleasure of hand-writing a note on good paper in a well-lit room.
It’s totally luxurious and yet so simple, based not on outcomes but experience.
The client was looking for a personalized set of linen greeting cards with an image of their ranch-style home in Nevada. We kept it simple, clean, and a bit rustic in honor of the aesthetic, but the possibilities in this design arena are nearly endless.
These cards are a way to memorialize the love and labor they put into their property, as well as a presentation of identity and a vehicle of expression.
And that’s the theme emerging in my practice these days: enhancing people’s experience of what they already love, specifically their homes and their modes of correspondence. (With my glass work, it’s an elevation of the ambient. With my paper products, an elevation of communication.)
These are intimate spaces, so it’s an honor collaborating with my clients to bring unique degrees of refinement to their daily rhythms.
Le Corbusier famously wrote, “Space and light and order. Those are things that [people] need just as much as they need bread or a place to sleep.” I found this quote in high school nearly fourteen years ago and it has stayed with me ever since.
